This must-see marvel, the seat of the Šternberk family since 1241, is one of the most attractive castles in the region. It sits on top of a spur and looks down on the Sázava River. It is imposing from below, beautiful inside, and so well located that it allows to dominate the whole region (especially from the yellow room). It is one of the rare historical monuments which remains property of its founders. The latter had to abandon it from 1949 to 1991, during the communist period.
