Terezín (German: Theresienstadt), a former military fortress built in the 18th century and a garrison town, is the size of a village: it has only 2,906 inhabitants. She is actually visiting herself for her former transit camp set up by the Nazis in 1941. They occupied Bohemia, Czech Republic, where they temporarily rounded up Czech, German, and Austrian Jews before deporting them to the death camps. If this visit may seem macabre, it is in fact very moving and allows us to realize that the prisoners of the camp did everything possible to make life more bearable for themselves: they developed an intense artistic life.
