140 km southeast of Prague, Telč (5,300 inhabitants) is located at equal distance (30 km) from Jihlava (in the north), Třebíč (in the east) and Jindřichův Hradec (in the west), amidst beautiful hilly landscapes that are crossed on roads lined with cherry trees. Telč is above all a place, and what a place it is! Huge, with arcades, it is one of the most beautiful examples of Renaissance architecture. All its houses, in perfect condition and skillfully restored, deserve a look. Under the snow in winter or in the sunshine of fine weather, it is always enchantment. Rebuilt after the fire that ravaged it in 1530, the square has, in fact, hardly changed at all. In short, it is not surprising that it is regularly cited as one of the most beautiful cities in the Czech Republic, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.
