On the way down, you arrive in the French Quarter, the first city founded by French colonists in the early 17th century. It's a nice site with picturesque huts, where bougainvillea and hibiscus trees were unfortunately devastated by cyclone Irma in September 2017. It is also a popular area where you will find fresh fruit and punch shops along the roadside. On weekends, the inhabitants sell home-made cakes on the sly. It's a sometimes lively neighbourhood and a bit rebellious!
