This is the capital of the island. During the colonization period, it was chosen for its profusion of arable land, which was conducive to agriculture. The government buildings are here, as are the major historic sites. Don't miss Wallblake House, built in 1787, which remains the oldest structure on Anguilla and the only remaining plantation house. It is located in the west of the city, near the Catholic church of Anguilla.
