A private residential area (accessed via a security post), Terres-Basses is home to most of the billionaires' villas, hidden from view. Surrounded by the Caribbean Sea to the north and west, and Simpson Lagoon to the southeast, Terres-Basses is linked to the French and Dutch parts by two narrow strips of land, making it private and exclusive. It's no coincidence that the island's finest hotel makes its home here. The beaches of Baie aux Prunes, Baie Longue and Baie Rouge are particularly peaceful, and the water is magnificent. It's also a nesting ground for sea turtles.
