The last town on the island before the southern tip of Sandy Point is William's Town. Wild cotton grows in this area. Not far from there are the remains of the best preserved plantation of the Exumas, the Hermitage, whose ruins are a reminder of the distant times of slavery. It can be visited as well as the remains of the slave quarters. It should be noted that in the 18th century, there were also salt decanting activities near the three ponds of Little Exuma. This town, like many others in the Bahamas, is inhabited by the descendants of slaves to whom the landowners gave their land at the time of abolition.
