Here you can visit the twin churches of Father Jerome who, once their construction was completed, retired to end his days as a hermit on Cat Island. St. Paul's is an Anglican church while St. Peter & St. Paul's is Catholic. Further south are three other beautiful churches built by Father Jerome and the remains of the Dunmore fruit plantation, which belonged to the former governor of the Bahamas. On the west coast, one can see saltwater ponds that were used as salt marshes until the 1970s; they are no longer in use today, but an old salt factory can still be seen at Hard Bargain.
