13 kilometers south of the Stella Maris Marina is this peaceful little village, the oldest hamlet on Long Island. It has a lot of charm with its colourful wooden shacks surrounded by white walls, but is not very rich in accommodation or dining options. Descendants of the original inhabitants still live here and the village is known for the basketry work practiced there by Ms Ivy Simms, renowned for the quality of her creations. Even today there are still a few craftsmen who work with straw and you can find some interesting pieces such as dolls or Christmas decorations that will appeal to enthusiasts.
