The name Cussy-la-Colonne comes from the Roman column at the edge of the village. Dating from the 3rd century, its function remains a mystery. Several hypotheses have been put forward: a monument celebrating a victory, a funerary monument, protection of a nearby villa... Measuring 11.60 meters, Charles X commissioned Charles d'Arbaud to restore the summit in 1825. Mythological figures are depicted on the pedestal. Today, there are few remains of this type in Europe. So make a detour to discover this column and perhaps try to unravel its mystery.
