We enter Hospital de Orbigo (about 1,000 inhabitants) through its emblematic medieval bridge, known as Puente del Paso Honroso. It is one of the longest bridges on the way to Santiago, supported by 20 different arches. Legend has it that a bridge was originally built here by the Romans, on the Via Aquitania, which connected Astorga and Tarragona, for the transport of gold. The present bridge was built in the 13th century and rebuilt several times. If you have the opportunity to spend the first weekend of June here, you should know that the village organizes medieval jousts to commemorate the episode of Paso Honroso.
