Located 55 km south of León, this village of more than 5,000 inhabitants is worth a visit. On the banks of the river Esla rise the six crenellated towers of the Gothic fortress of Valencia, built in the 15th century. The fortress is surrounded by a beautiful green valley that is ideal for country walks. Since 2008, one of its towers has been home to a museum that traces the history of the city and its castle. From the outside terrace on the top floor, the views over the river Esla are just splendid. It may also be interesting to visit the Traditional Clothing Museum, where a fine collection of old clothes is on display.
