This town of 2,200 inhabitants of medieval origin has a rich religious heritage. The Santiago church (rebuilt in the 19th century after a fire) has a splendid façade, where one can admire a Christ Pantocrator surrounded by his apostles. The church of Santa María del Camino is of Romanesque origin (12th century), but Baroque modifications were made in the 16th century. The convent of Santa Clara, from the 13th century, houses a very interesting museum with various sculptures and a Pietà by Gregorio Fernández. Finally, the monastery of San Zoilo houses a sumptuous plateresque cloister from the 16th century.
