One of the last stops in the province of Palencia before arriving in León, this village of about 80 inhabitants was once a stronghold of the Templar Order, whose mission was to protect pilgrims on the Way of St. James, some parts of which were far from safe and prone to banditry. Its existence is mentioned in the records of the Abbey of Sahagún from the 11th century. Its church of San Pedro preserves a Gothic crucifix dating from the 14th century. The village has a bar and a grocery store. Every year on June 29, celebrations are held in the village, with masses, games and numerous stands of local cuisine.
