It is a town of about 2,800 inhabitants that is organized around a charming Plaza Mayor with porticos. It has an interesting heritage formed by the ruins of the monastery of San Benito el Real, of which only a neoclassical arch remains, the churches of San Tirso and San Lorenzo, of Mudejar style, and the sanctuary of the Peregrina, founded in 1257 and declared a historical monument. The latter exhibits delicate plaster decorations. All of this forms a whole of a particular architectural harmony, making Sahagún a stage of the Way of St. James not to be missed. On leaving the village, you will pass by the Canto bridge, of Romanesque origin, which crosses the river Cea.
