The village is known for hosting the Dzogbégan Abbey since 1963 where it is possible to spend one or two nights with the Benedictine brothers or sisters. The monks have introduced various crops to the region, including the robusta coffee variety. They market many of their products and work with the local population to pass on their know-how, as do the sisters of the nearby monastery. Together they produce honey, coffee, cinnamon, cookies and jams, as well as natural essences that are highly prized for export. The foundation also houses a dispensary to treat the sick of the community.
