Agotime Kpetoe, a small town located 25 km southeast of Ho, a stone's throw from the border with Togo, is said to be the origin of the famous kente fabrics typical of Ghana. The very name kente is said to be derived from the movement of the loom, described in the local language as Ke (open) and Te (closed). These beautiful pieces of cloth are gorgeous and much cheaper here in Agotime Kpetoe than in the Ashanti region. If you are tempted to go shopping, a detour from Ho is quite feasible (40 minutes by cab).
