The Gatún Locks are located in the north of Gatún Lake, 10 km southwest of Colón. These locks are longer than those of Miraflores. In order to raise ships to 26 meters above sea level, the Gatún Locks have three lock basins, each 330 meters long and 33.5 meters wide. Since the establishment of the Agua Clara Visitor Center, the Gatún Locks are closed. The view is also amazing from the Atlantic Bridge. With 2 x 2 lanes and a length of 1,050 meters (4.6 kilometers with its access viaducts), it is unfortunately not possible to stop there to appreciate the works.
