Less than 2 hours from the capital, Santa Clara beach is one of the most beautiful in the region: vegetation, fine sand and a calm sea. Very pleasant for long strolls by the sea, especially as there are no large hotel complexes as can be seen on neighbouring beaches, and swimming is not dangerous. Facing the sea, you'll find a few straw huts where you can relax and eat fried fish and patacones, accompanied by a cold beer. Typical. To rent a kayak or paddle, go fishing or admire the whales in season (July to October), head for Tortugas Beach Bar, a lounge bar-resto. Great for a sunset cocktail! Santa Clara attracts crowds on Saturdays and Sundays, but the rest of the week is very quiet. A few guesthouses offer a pleasant base for exploring the surrounding area. For those staying here for several days, there's a mall in Playa Blanca, 10 minutes away. Here you'll find everything you need for shopping, as well as an ATM, pharmacy and more. For convenience, there's a chino at the entrance to Santa Clara.
