Located on the borders of the Pays d'Auge and Pays d'Ouche, the village has been labelled a Small City of Character since 2015. Its specificity: the richness of its architectural character which gives it a unique character. The Sap developed at the end of the 11th century around Fort Montpellier, whose important remains are still visible. Demolished in 1378, the medieval fortress was then replaced by a stone and half-timbered main building in the 15th century. Saint-Pierre church is a fine example of a church in the Pays d'Ouche, with the chequered motifs of the nave (16th century) and the choir (17th century) which combine marl, flint and grey. The municipality has several typical red brick houses and beautiful half-timbered and half-timbered houses, built between the 17th and 19th centuries. A booklet for visiting the Sap is available at the Tourist Office. Not to be missed: the site of the Grand Jardin which hosts the Ecomuseum "From apple to Calvados".
