At the crossroads of plains, hills and mountains, this charming locality is today very active in the textile industry (production of jeans and T-shirts for the European market). In the late 15th century, the Serenissima made it a free port in exchange for military support. This was also the period when the Venetian nobility built pleasure residences here, the most famous of which is the manor-like Villa Da Porto Colleoni. In the small town center, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (15thc. ) and the municipal tower (17th c.) are also worth a visit. Thiene hosts a Renaissance market (2nd weekend in October).
