Just outside Basel, the picturesque old town of Rheinfelden offers magnificent views of the Rhine. The Alte Rheinbrücke, the old bridge over the Rhine, made of reinforced concrete, is one of the town's most remarkable structures. What makes it so special? It stands between two countries! The right bank is in Germany, the left bank in Switzerland. Inaugurated in 1912, this bridge is inseparable from Rheinfelden. Only pedestrians cross it.From the boat, you can also see Haus Salmegg, Germany's neoclassical museum of modern art. The name "Salmegg" is a reference to the salmon that once thrived in the Rhine.
