Duke's Wood(Den Bosch or 's-Hertogenbosch in Dutch) is well worth a visit. A fortified city, its well-preserved medieval remains bear witness to its rich past, in particular the ramparts and bastions from the 16th and 17th centuries. Capital of the province of North Brabant, Den Bosch is a medium-sized city of almost 151,000 inhabitants. Its old center with its beautiful colored gabled houses, its canals, its well-stocked stores, its small charming restaurants and its nice little bistros attract visitors. The city is home to many industries and is an important strategic hub for trade in the region. The locals simply call it Den Bosch. Art lovers visit it primarily for the St. John's Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Gothic churches in the country. It is also the home of the famous painter Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) who was born here. Unfortunately, while the city has no original works by the artist, it has nevertheless been celebrating him skillfully throughout the city since the lavish "Bosch, Visions of Genius" exhibition in 2016 with themed tours, explanatory signs and numerous recurring events.
