The town lies close to the border with the Czech Republic and the historic region of Moravia. Bordering the Iron Curtain, it was part of the Soviet occupation zone until 1955. It wasn't until the fall of the Communist regimes that it enjoyed a certain economic boom. Laa an der Taya is famous for its thermal waters and for housing a remarkable museum dedicated to horse-drawn carriages. Laa an der Taya is a pretty, peaceful town of just over 6,000 inhabitants, and a pleasant place to live. Admire the beautiful building with its charming bell tower housing the town hall. Don't miss out on a trip to Moravia!
