The small village of Pöide offers a pleasant detour into the island's countryside, to admire its stone church of St. Mary. This fortified medieval church is one of the most interesting on Saaremaa, along with those in Karja, Kihelkonna, Kaarma, Valjala and Püha. With around 21 inhabitants, the village has little to offer in terms of accommodation and restaurants. There are a few health trails accessible to all, notably from the church, where you can choose between 1, 3 and 10 km. Pöide is also home to a disco-golf course, which is great fun in summer, whether you're a beginner or an experienced golfer.
