Newport, with its spectacular bridge and two lighthouses, is the hub of the coast and the most populated city. Ideally located, the city is the starting point for numerous excursions within the state. We have to distinguish between the industrial and urban city, served by the motorway, the town of the seaside, which is accessed by Hurbert Street and which has preserved its market to fish and its wooden houses on the dune. The historic city is nestled on the banks of the spectacular Yaquina Bay. Newport's beaches are known worldwide for their fossils and their agates.Newport's story began with the discovery, in 1862, of huge oyster benches in the bay. So many companies in San Francisco arrive and settle in the city. In 1866, Samuel Case established an area of construction of hotels on the north shore of Yaquina Bay. Originally, the Lincoln district, turned on Yaquina Bay, is the economic backbone of the city and later becomes a commercial fishing port and charpente. Today, Lincoln still hosts the largest fishing fleets in Oregon - this is the capital of the Dungeness crab - but it is also a tourist and family place where souvenir stores, art galleries, fish soup restaurants come together. In 1890, a second site developed: Nye Beach, this time on the Pacific Ocean. The arrival of the train brings a wave of tourists from within the state, taking advantage of the fresh air of the Pacific coast. A seaside resort was born. Today Nye Beach is the place of residence par excellence: the endless sand beach, the fresh air, a small air of the Basque Coast, make it a step of choice.
