The Braies valley (1,496 m) is criss-crossed by some of the region's most enjoyable cross-country ski trails.Braies lake. Nicknamed "the emerald of the Dolomites", this is a magical site in which the mountains are reflected like a jewel case. Opposite, the Croda del Becco (2,810 m), to the left the Sasso del Signore (2,447 m), to the right the Monte Nero (2,123 m). The lake can be reached via the famous Alta Via no. 1, which goes as far as Belluno (Veneto). Along the way, you can stop off at a number of refuges... Don't expect to swim, as the water temperature never exceeds 14°C! A pretty little chapel completes the picture postcard.
