90 km southeast of Bishkek. These gorges owe their fame to Lake Kel-Tor and its waterfalls. On the northern flank of the Kyrgyz mountains, alpine pastures overlook a peaceful river flowing through the Kegeti valley and leading to the lake, whose turquoise waters are fed by a twenty-metre-high waterfall. The flora and fauna have remained wild and particularly rich, in particular with numerous medicinal plants but also berries (be sure to visit during strawberry season: there are plenty in the woods!).The best way to visit the gorge is to hire a horse: locals offer their services in season.
