Its history dates back more than 200 years when the first Scottish and Irish settlers came here. In the 1880s, it even became a major steamboat building, transportation and firewood supply centre. Today, it is one of the gateways to the Thousand Islands region. Cruises are available to explore this archipelago, which has been protected as a national park since 1904, and you can even hop over to the U.S. side to see the imposing Boldt Castle on Heart Island, New York, up close. Near Rockport, at Mallory Landing, is the must-see national park.
