The small concession NG/27B, about 50 km northwest of Maun, borders the Moremi Reserve in the south along the Boro River. The flooding of the Okavango is at its peak here around May or June and dissipates in about four months. But, as in the entire delta, these dates are subject to wide variations and the flow can be high as early as March or as late as August, although experts are finding that the flood is decreasing decade by decade. However, 4% of the area is now made up of permanent water - marshes or channels - and 75% is floodplain. All marsh vegetation is represented here: reeds, rushes, papyrus, but also riverside trees - African ebony, leadwood, sausage tree - and a wide variety of aromatic plants and sedges on shallow floodplains. More unusual is the presence of large fig trees. The environment of this concession, which is highly susceptible to flooding from the Okavango, changes seasonally. In addition, the preferred activities here are mokoro rides and walking - the concession camps do not organize game drives. Many waders and semi-aquatic mammals such as hippos and lechwes can be observed here. Be careful, however, water activities are very limited from January to April. The most pleasant season is then the dry season, and if you are a bit cold, it is better to choose May or early June, otherwise September and October.
