For water lovers, concession NG21, also known as Shinde Concession, is located north of the Moremi Reserve. It is the smallest concession in the delta, with an average surface area of about 500 km². A very large part of this concession is covered with permanent water, as it is crossed by two important rivers: the Moanachira and the Mborogha. The Moanachira feeds the Gcodikwe and Xakanaxa lagoons further east, while the Mborogha feeds the Santandatibe and Gomoti rivers, which then cross Chief's Island and concession NG31 to the southeast. Experts note a significant increase in the flow of these rivers over the last century. They invoke a gradual rise in the western part of the delta, which would thus send the waters back eastwards. The canals and deep water lagoons are therefore a familiar landscape of concession NG21. A symbolic image of the delta, with its winding channels, strewn with water lilies and other bladderworts, bordered by elegant papyrus or reed hedges and suddenly opening onto a lagoon with banks dotted with fig trees. The concession consists of three high-end private camps, managed by Desert & Delta, and another, Shinde and Shinde Enclave, managed by Ker & Downey. All of them offer activities related to the Okavango: mokoro and boat rides, fishing, island exploration... Game drives are possible further north of the concession. It is advisable to go there during the dry season to take full advantage of the sumptuous landscapes!
