This beautiful concession, named Jao Concession, is located after the Jao River which runs along it to the east. It is about 600 km² in size and forms the western edge of Moremi. As in the whole northern part of the delta, flooding is present here as early as April or May. It quickly covers the plains of the concession. Like Kwedi Concession, its neighbour to the east, Jao offers a classic delta landscape with its vast flood plains, dotted with a myriad of islets. If this region of the Jao Flats is remarkable for its magnificent landscapes, it is not the best place to observe the fauna, even if it remains well represented.
