Concession NG/27a, some 400 km² in size and located about 80 km northwest of Maun, forms the south-southwestern edge of the Moremi Reserve. The only means of access for the traveller is by bush plane. The southern part of the concession is an open landscape on plains flooded from May to September, dotted with numerous small islands, planted or bordered by palm trees. Baobab trees are common there. Towards the north-east, the plain is losing surface area to larger, more wooded islands - classic trees: African ebony, marula, sausage tree, raintree. Even further north, towards the west, the forest becomes a little denser - acacias, sycamores or isolated fig trees - but it slowly gives way to a few open plains, bordered by palms or willows and covered with red-orange hippopotamus grass in September. The fauna is numerous and varied in the concession, especially during the dry months. Sassabys, impalas, lechwes, steenboks, wildebeest, baboons, zebras are common. Elephants and giraffes are honourably represented, as well as lions, hyenas and jackals among carnivorous predators. The leopard is present, but, as always, harder to find. The concession is also rich in birds, especially during the wet months: herons, egrets, cormorants, marabouts, kingfishers, grackles, as well as eagles of all varieties. Perhaps the rare Pel's Fishing Owl will also be spotted. According to his preferences, it is therefore advisable to choose his period.
