Castlerock is a small seaside resort wedged between cliffs, dunes and hills. The Downhill beach is a marvel and the surrounding nature offers extraordinary panoramas and expanses, untouched by tourism and concrete. Binevenagh is a splendid 385-metre hill where you can enjoy some great walks. Between here and Derry, be sure to take Bishops Road, signposted "Binevenagh Scenic Route" from Downhill. The start is steep, but the views over the plateau heights, countryside, sea and Foyle estuary are impressive, especially at the statue of the Irish god Manannan Mac Lir, where there's a small parking lot.
