The township of Carrick-a-Rede, located just next to Ballintoy, is in fact a small rocky islet which is connected to the Irish mainland by a rope bridge (which is dismantled during the winter season). Located at about 25 meters above the void, the bridge only welcomes a bunch of people at a time, for obvious security reasons... Beware, sensitive souls abstain! For those who have the courage to cross, the view from the islet on the cliffs of the Antrim Coast is absolutely superb. A dream moment in perspective, to share with the penguins and the seagulls which had the good idea to take up residence in this fairy spot.
