Rathlin Island has a population of around 150. Lying off the coast of Northern Ireland, Rathlin Island is visible from the Antrim coastline and attracts nature lovers, especially birdwatchers. Since its population has plummeted, its cliffs have become a bird sanctuary, particularly in spring and summer, with guillemots, gulls, razorbills, puffins and many others. Its waters are also home to hundreds of seals, as well as Stone Age and Christian monuments. Its small surface area of 6 km by 4 km makes it an easy destination to explore on foot.
