Visits to these islets are limited, as the authorities prefer to reserve this area for scientific research. It is here that researchers Peter and Rosemary Grant were able to study the endemic finch of the archipelago. Their discoveries are reported in a book The Finch's Beak by Jonathan Weiner, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1995. The title refers to Darwin's observations of the beaks of Galapagos finches, which helped shape his theory of the evolution of species. The study of the finches on this island revealed a much more rapid evolution than Darwin imagined, almost in real time.
