18 km2. Maximum altitude: 458 m. Pinzón Island is sometimes called "Duncan's Island", after the first Viscount Adam Duncan. Pinzón is home to giant tortoises (of the endemic species Chelonoidis nigra duncanensis) and sea lions, among others. A special permit is required to visit the island, which marks the central point of the archipelago. This permit is usually given only to scientists and researchers. To apply for a permit, contact the Darwin Research Station. In the wetland area, we note the presence of a species of tree: the Scalesia.
