One of the oldest villages in Álava, Antoñana preserves a very beautiful set of walls, which are part of the Basque Country's national heritage. Fortified in 1182 by the Navarrese king Sancho the Wise, the municipality became part of Castile in the 13th century. Its medieval streets, the main one being the Calle Mayor, are worth a stroll through, where you can admire the beautiful houses with coats of arms, such as the 13th-century Hurtados de Mendoza tower and the 16th-century Elorza palace. The village church, dedicated to San Vicente Márti, preserves an eighteenth century Rococo altarpiece. Do not hesitate to visit the tourist office.
