Located at the foot of the Gargano, Manfredonia is famous for its carnival, which makes the town festive and colourful in February thanks to its "parade of wonders", prepared by the pupils of the various schools (young and old), their teachers and parents. And each costume is a work of art sewn by the mothers of the little schoolchildren! A skill mastered to perfection! Manfredonia owes its name to Manfred of Sicily, the Swabian king (1222-1266) and son of Frederick II, who had it built on the site of the ancient Siponto. However, the vicissitudes of history have stripped the city of many of its monuments.
