Halfway between Cherbourg and Barfleur, Fermanville is a small, peaceful commune, which borders the northern coast of the Cotentin and is well worth a detour. If its coastline, very indented, is conducive to summer swimming (especially in the pretty Brick cove), its heritage is rich: its Napoleonic fort, semaphore and small port are all popular places to walk. But Fermanville is also a bocage, and this Norman green that adorns the inland. From the old railway line crossing it, the commune has inherited a pretty viaduct, built in pink granite, and which is the heart of the Valley of the Mills, also worth a visit!
