The charming village of Meiringen in the canton of Bern, in the district of Interlaken-Oberhasli, is especially worth a visit as a starting point for the many natural attractions in the vicinity. The Reichenbach Falls are a must-see nearby. In the heart of the town of Meiringen, there are a number of sights worth seeing: in particular the church, more for the traces left by the previous buildings (11th century crypt, Romanesque frescoes and bell tower) than for its current appearance, as well as the famous Sherlock Holmes Museum, a key figure in the region. It takes about 15 minutes to get there by car or train from Brienz.
