With over 10,000 inhabitants, the capital of Oberwald canton enjoys an enviable location. With its 7 km2 lake and the surrounding mountains stretching as far as the eye can see, the panorama may be classic, but it never fails to impress. A view you just can't get enough of! Around the Sarnersee, the typical, scattered settlements form a picture-postcard landscape. The town, which oscillates between its status as a traditional small town and that of Switzerland's modern capital, doesn't really leave an indelible impression. While it is possible to stay with local people, the best option is to contact the tourist office.
