Chief town of the eponymous prefecture, Agou is located about 20 km southeast of Kpalimé. The city is especially known for its mountain, the highest point of Togo. It offers the possibility to make beautiful walks through small villages perched on the mountain. The land is fertile and many market garden crops are grown in the area. However, the prefecture lacks the means to improve agricultural production. On Mondays and Fridays, the town comes alive around its traditional markets, especially the one in Agou Nyogbo, which is larger and more colorful. The local cab fare from Kpalimé is about 350 FCFA.
