As the starting point of the Radstädter Tauern mountain range, this beautiful mountain region is ideal for wonderful excursions. First mentioned in 1074, Radstadt was granted city status in 1289 by Archbishop Rudolf von Hohenegg Radstadt has been besieged and invaded several times and is surrounded by ramparts. The Lerchen Castle, built at the end of the 13th century and remodelled at the end of the 18th century, the Gothic Schusterturm dating from the beginning of the 16th century, as well as the Hexenteichturm and the Kapuzinerturm can be seen. The parish church houses a beautiful organ by Paul Hofmayer.
