A small village of no major interest, but its location in the heart of the Delta and its landscape make it a recommended stopover. Its name Taglio (cut) comes from the imposing river engineering work carried out by the Venetians between 1600 and 1604 to block the high tides of the Adriatic, which were ravaging villages and cultivated fields. The project was contested by the Holy See, which at the time owned the Emilia-Romagna lands adjacent to the Veneto region, and took a dim view of any reinforcement of the Serenissima's power. In the landscape between Taglio and Adria, you'll see some beautiful 17th-century villas that once belonged to the Venetian nobility.
