We can guess what Malamocco was like a little over a century ago, when almost all the inhabitants (about a thousand) lived in what was the seat of the Commune but also the only occupied center, the rest of the population being scattered all over the island. After the radical transformation that the island underwent at the end of the 19th century, Malamocco is the only place where it is still possible to find historical monuments that tell us about its past.Worth a visit are the three 15th century Gothic buildings that stand in its main square: the Palazzo del Podestà, the church of Santa Maria Assunta and a patrician house.
