The port of Portsmouth, the second largest in England, welcomes hundreds of ships every day, including numerous ferries to France and the Isle of Wight in particular. Portsmouth's activity has always been linked to the sea; and the city remains strongly marked by its maritime past, when it had a major influence on the naval industry. The Historic Dockyard traces the naval and war history of Great Britain, exhibiting in particular two warships, HMS Warrior and HMS Victory. This is the main attraction of the city; along with the Gunwharf Quays and its factory outlets which are also a major reason to visit Portsmouth!
