Welcome to the heart of Ventnor, this pretty terraced village is the warmest place on the island, facing the sea and its beaches. Its climate is almost reminiscent of the Mediterranean, and Dr. Sir James Clark praised its health benefits in a monograph, which helped to make the place even more attractive. Steephill Cove is a very beautiful and picturesque inhabited cove and the southernmost point of Wight is found at St Catherine's Lighthouse, a 19th century lighthouse. Further inland and accessible by a small road between Niton and Blackgang, St Catherine's Oratory is a 14th century tower.
