Civitella del Tronto is a pretty village located on a rocky promontory overlooking the Salinello Valley, about 18 km north of Teramo, at the gateway to the Gran Sasso National Park and the Laga Mountains. You can stop here for a few hours for a pleasant stroll in its historical center where beautiful stone houses follow one another along its paved streets, including the ruetta which is said to be one of the narrowest in Italy (40 cm wide!). Perched at an altitude of 645 meters, Civitella del Tronto is dominated by its imposing Bourbon fortress, guardian of the place, from which you have a panoramic view of the valley. A must-see!
